"Leather specialist
Bill Amberg-an enthusiastic vintage car fan-was invited to design a
chair with all the oomph of a glamorous, single-seater sports car.
Together with his studio designer, Ned Ingham, he has created a
truly sexy seat- a bright red, ribbed-leather bucket seat in a
moulded aluminium shell sitting on a low, curved, tubular
frame.......One of the few workshops in Britain that still
hand-beats panels made the aluminium shell while car-trimming
techniques were used to attach the leather, ensuring
a glove-like fit. Natural, vegetable-tanned Swedish leather in
Maserati red was chosen because " it patinates so nicely into
a delicious burgandy" says Amberg. "Traditionally, the seat leather
could be popped out before transportation to a race so we have
added press studs".
