For London Design Festival 2016, Bill Amberg Studio presents Alchemy; a series of panels that explore the material properties of leather and concrete.
Continually using leather in innovative and unconventional ways, the Bill Amberg Studio presents a series of panels that explore the unique qualities of two highly varying materials: leather and concrete. The combination of these materials results in an intriguing combination of textures and grains. Adding a new dimension to the character of each, the Alchemy panels question the traditional use of both materials.
Leather has defined the work of the Bill Amberg Studio for over 30 years, encompassing everything from floors, walls and furniture to saddles and bags. For London Design Festival 2016, we push the status quo and take the luxury of leather and juxtapose it with industrial concrete to create the Alchemy series of panels. This series is an exploration of using a concrete leather surface for applications in the future. The panels also see the use of a third material; brass.
Taking place during London Design Festival, the Alchemy panels will be on view at our Queens Park studio. Join us on 22nd September for a full insight into Alchemy, as part of Timeless Materia. We also celebrate the opening of a new workshop and showroom space with a drinks reception as part of Queens Park Design District. Please join us from 6pm at our head office in Lonsdale Road.
