OB-4 Leather Bag

Inspirational design, handcrafted in the UK

We are pleased to share our second collaboration with cult Swedish sound design brand teenage engineering. With a shared passion for creativity and combining cutting edge technology with traditional craft techniques, Bill Amberg Studio and teenage engineering have created a limited-edition run of handstitched leather bags and straps that provide elegant and acoustically transparent leather protection for the brand’s new OB-4 magic radio.

Inspired by the box stitching on army field radios and traditional camera casings, the new bags and straps complement the OB-4’s striking silhouette, with the ultra-durable cow hide adding a softness to the hard edges of the speaker while maintaining its remarkable, rich sound experience.

The case is made by our small team of craftspeople in the London studio using traditional hand box stitching from just two materials. The fine vegetable tanned bridle leather is individually scribed with an edition number, and then polished and carefully hand stitched using waxed thread. The bespoke annodised aluminium hardware was designed in-house to compliment Teenage Engineering’s design perfectly, creating a harmony between new technology and traditional craft. The detachable strap can be adjusted to several lengths so you can take your magic radio on the go in comfort and style.

Creating things that will last – whether that’s music, bags or anything else – is so important to me, and working with Teenage Engineering on these beautiful new pieces has been such a joy. We’ve had to think carefully about both the design and functionality to ensure that the speaker’s clarity of sound isn’t hampered in any way, while also not compromising the design or quality of the leatherwork in the end product. We’re delighted with the result.”
