Westminster Abbey

It was an enormous honour to be asked to play a part in the development of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries at London’s Westminster Abbey – a new museum located high above the Abbey floor.

Hidden for over 700 years, the 13th century triforium exhibits over 300 treasures from the Abbey’s thousand-year history, whilst affording staggering views to the Palace of Westminster and into the Abbey church.

Working with project architects, MUMA, we developed a set of double-sided leather curtains measuring over 5 metres long, by 4 metres high, alongside similarly sized leather display banners.

The size and weight of the pieces presented technical and engineering challenges that were solved by employing techniques and hardware more commonly seen in yacht sailmaking. We couldn’t be happier with the finished items, which will serve their purpose in this remarkable landmark for decades to come.
