The limited-edition cooler is thoughtfully crafted from sustainable materials.
Bill Amberg Studio has collaborated with Black Cow, the World’s Smoothest Vodka, to create a limited-edition Black Cow Picnic Bottle Cooler.
Made with textured, natural wool-felt and vegetable-tanned leather with Black Cow detailing, the cooler is designed to hold a bottle of Black Cow and a small truckle of Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar. A circular divider, made from a composite of the felt and leather, protects and separates the cheese from the vodka. Launching in May 2021, the cooler will be available to purchase from www.blackcow.co.uk and in Selfridges.
The materials used to make the carrier were chosen for their durable and functional properties, as well as their sustainable qualities. The wool-felt is made using waste wool from the fashion industry. It is a natural insulator, keeping things either hot or cold by absorbing the moisture in the air. This particular leather, a calf skin used for lining shoes, is a remnant from shoe-making industry. It ages beautifully, subtly patinating and changing character over time.
Both materials are sourced from production leftovers. Black Cow’s commitment to reducing waste is at the core of the Dorset-based company: Black Cow vodka is made from what is left over in the milk when making cheese while Black Cow & English Strawberries – Black Cow’s strawberry vodka – is made using locally-sourced strawberries that would otherwise go to waste.
It will be available to purchase in Selfridges and on blackcow.co.uk
